The DCIC, which is a Community Interest Company (CIC), was established in 2026 by a group of Derwenthorpe residents to allow us to invoice JRHT for the service of locking and unlocking the play park. This was previously undertaken by a security firm who were doing the job and charging around £18,000 a year in 2023, which came out of our estate management charge. We have now taken over the contract and charge £15,000 for our services for the first year (2025) and we have made this money available for community events.
Here are our Articles of Association.

We have a small group of volunteers who lock and unlock the play park. Some of the volunteers are on a rota and perform their task on the same day each week. Other volunteers are on standby and step in when someone is unable to lock or unlock. We have a WhatsApp group so that we can easily communicate and ensure that the park is always locked and unlocked every day.
We are always looking for more volunteers as the more we have the easier it is to manage, so if you are interested then please contact us using the button at the bottom of this page.
Each quarter we invoice JRHT for our services. This money is available for Derwenthorpe residents to fund activities and events. These can be anything you want as long as it benefits the residents of Derwenthorpe. If you have an idea then it would be best to chat with one of us first which you can do by using the contact us button at the bottom of this page.
Here is our application form.
